Waitlist Policy

CMS Waitlist Policy

In order to be on the waitlist of Children’s House, the parents of a child have to meet the below requirements. The priority on the waitlist is determined by when the school confirms receipt of a completed parent questionnaire.

A. Requirements for placement on the wait list

To enter a child on the waitlist, parent(s) must:

  1. Contact the school by phone, email, or in person
  2. Submit a parent questionnaire

(Note: The priority on the waitlist is determined by the time and date when the school in writing acknowledges receipt of the completed parent questionnaire, see below)

  1. Attend an open day/visit the school
  2. Complete an interview with the director or his designate
  3. Be approved for the waitlist based on the above

A place on the waitlist does not guarantee enrollment. Enrollment is contingent upon, among other items, a child school visit, payment of tuition, parents’ acceptance of the school policies, the school’s need to balance the classrooms, and the school’s determination regarding the student’s readiness for the program. Enrollment remains at the sole discretion of the school.

B. Priority on the wait list

The priority on the waitlist is determined by the time and date when the school in writing acknowledges receipt of the completed parent questionnaire in step 2 above.

The school may at its discretion give priority to siblings of enrolled students.

C. Miscellaneous

Interviews and individual visits are normally only conducted during the first months of the calendar year, although the director may make exceptions depending on staff availability.

Enrollment is governed by the school’s enrollment policies as they are in effect at any time. A place on the waitlist does not guarantee enrollment. Policies reflect, among other things, the need to balance the classrooms within the age groups, since a Montessori classroom is mixed-age.

This waitlist policy was adopted by the board on August 26th, 2014. The transition from the previous to the current waitlist rules is governed by the following:

  1. For patrons with a child enrolled at the school before or during the academic year of 2013/2014, the place on the waitlist is determined by the first time of contact with the school.
  2. For patrons who completed the interview with the director or his designate before August 1st, 2014, the place on the waitlist is by date and time of the completion of that interview.
  3. For all other patrons, the place on the waitlist is governed by the date and time when the school in writing acknowledges receipt of the questionnaire.
